Difficulties encountered in UV-resistant modification of PVC Resin

The strong polarity of PVC molecular chains necessitates higher processing temperatures and the addition of plasticizers to reduce intermolecular gravitational force and increase product flexibility. However, exposure to heat, oxygen, and light can lead to the release of HCl, triggering material decomposition. This manifests as brittleness, discoloration, and loss of mechanical properties. To maintain PVC resin quality during processing and use, plastic modification is essential. The most direct method involves adding UV absorbers and stabilizers to the resin for modification.

Challenges in improving UV resistance of acidic system resins, like PVC

Omnistab UV 312, an oxalanilide UV absorber, is well-suited for polar and acidic system resins. It effectively absorbs UVB-band UV rays (250-350nm). When used alone or in combination with antioxidants (such as hindered phenols and phosphites) and low alkaline HALS stabilizers (e.g., Omnistab LS 119), UV312 exhibits excellent synergistic effects. The recommended dosage ranges from 0.1% to 1.0%.

  1. Automotive: UV 312 is ideal for use in low VOC system ABS/PVC dashboards, providing long-term light stabilization under UV radiation.
